Children
can receive Acupuncture
Often we have excellent results with this respected treatment.
In cases where children are uneasy about the needles,
a practitioner may choose to use an acupressure treatment,
involving massage of the acupoints, versus the placement
of needles within them.

Acupuncture
originated in China, and dates back to
the Neolithic Era (c. 2,500 BC) when stone needles were
used in place of today's finely manufactured ones. Chinese
medicine, which incorporates acupuncture into its many
treatments, is therefore considered to be the oldest and
most widely used system of medicine in our history.
Your
tongue and pulse tell a story
Tongue and pulse assessment is an important part of the
diagnostic process in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
By examining the color of the tongue itself, for example,
a TCM practitioner can ascertain the general condition
of the patient. The tongue can also be used to monitor
the improvement or decline of the patient’s condition.
For this purpose, the tongue body color is more useful
in chronic conditions, while the tongue coating is generally
more useful in acute conditions. A thorough evaluation
of the pulse qualities can reveal excesses, deficiencies,
disharmony of Qi, and the internal organs that are involved.

Qi
is your bioenergy
Qi (pronounced, “chee”) is the vital force,
the “breath of life”, the presence of which
separates the living from the dead. Its balanced, unimpeded
flow is critical to health. Any misdirection, blockage,
or imbalance of the amount, flow, or balance of Qi may
result in pain, dysfunction, and ill health. Proper stimulation
helps restore the normal energy (Qi) flow, so that organs
and bodily systems can work together in harmony. This
allows the body to repair itself and maintain its own
innate balance and health.
Acupuncture
is relaxing
The sensation produced by an acupuncture needle is not
the same as that of a hypodermic needle (the needle used
for injections). Medical hypodermic needles are stiff,
hollow, and thick, designed for forcing liquid into the
patient’s flesh. This is usually an uncomfortable
and painful procedure. In acupuncture, the needle is about
as wide as a strand of hair. Often, patients barely feel
the insertion. Once inserted, many patients are so relaxed
that they fall asleep! Read
