Acupuncture: For at least 4000 years, acupuncturists have successfully treated billions of people for a wide variety of symptoms, conditions, injuries, and diseases. Acupuncture is the fastest growing health-care profession in America. Both a science and an art, it is being recognized as a highly effective therapeutic modality. Acupuncture has been acknowledged by the World Health Organization as being an effective treatment for: addictions, allergies, anxiety, arthritis, back pain, carpal tunnel, hip pain, indigestion, knee pain, sinus problems, whiplash, and many other conditions. In acupuncture, a needle as fine as a strand of hair is introduced to a part of the body, and then manually or electrically manipulated to obtain the desired effect. Patients are often so relaxed that they fall asleep on the treatment table!

Auriculotherapy: This is a form of ear acupuncture that can be performed either with needles, or with a special electrical instrument. The ear is a “micro-system”, in which a part of the body has representations and correspondences with other areas of the body. For example, there are points on the ear that represent and correspond with the stomach, liver, heart, lower back, etc. While originally based upon the ancient Chinese practice of acupuncture, the somatotopic correspondence of specific parts of the body to specific parts of the ear was first developed in modern France.

Cupping: Cupping is a therapy in which a jar is attached to the skin surface to cause local congestion, and thereby enhancing the circulation of Qi and blood to the area. Cupping warms and promotes the free flow of Qi and blood in the meridians, dispels cold and dampness, and diminishes pain. Low back pain, shoulder pain, leg pain, cough, and asthma are some of the conditions successfully treated with this ancient method.

Moxabustion: This therapeutic modality treats and prevents disease by applying focused heat to points or certain locations of the human body. For centuries, acupuncture and moxabustion have been combined in clinical practice. Moxa sticks or cones made of Artemisia Vulgaris are the best kind. The acrid odor of the Artemesia leaf can travel through the meridians, regulate qi & blood, expel cold from the meridians, and resolve dampness. Moxabustion can also warm the uterus, stop bleeding, warm the spleen and stomach to remove stagnation, regulate menstruation, and ease the fetus. When burned it penetrates all of the meridians, alleviating many conditions.

Tongue Diagnosis: Did you know that your tongue tells a lot about you? Examining the tongue is a non-invasive way of inspecting some of your internal processes. The shape of the tongue, the color of its body, the markings on it, the coating with its color and thickness, all render a diagnostic picture of your condition. TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) was utilizing this tool from as early as 403 B.C.!

Pulse Diagnosis: Another essential diagnostic tool is pulse diagnosis. When a TCM practitioner takes your pulse, he/she is ascertaining not only the rate, but also the quality of the pulse. There are 12 points in the wrist area that correspond with your internal organs. By palpating those areas on the wrist, the practitioner can utilize the information gathered to assist
in the diagnostic process.

Christian Naturopathy is founded on six therapeutic principles:
A. The belief that God created the human body and endowed it with the power to heal itself. The role of the Christian Naturopath is to facilitate and enhance this process, preferably with the aid of natural, nontoxic, noninvasive therapies.
B. The person is viewed and valued as a whole. It must be understood that the cause of disease involves the complete body and every organ must be considered on the path to wellness.
C. Naturopathic medicine does not simply suppress symptoms, but seeks to identify and remove the underlying causes of a disease, especially as manifested in four major elimination systems: the lungs, kidneys, bowels, and skin.
D. A naturopath is a teacher, using the eight Laws of Health to educate, train, and motivate people.
E. Prevention of disease is best accomplished through dietary and lifestyle habits, which support health and wellness.
F. God is the Great Physician and He is the Author of all health principles.

The Acu-Wellness Center contains an herbal pharmacy
that provides customized herbal prescriptions to our patients.

A. Functional Intracellular Vitamin Analysis (FIA): Nutrient status is a vital foundation of health. Each micronutrient plays an individual and indispensable role in promoting the optimal function of all our cells. When some of those cells do not function at their best, the foundation of our health is compromised, setting the stage for the development of disease.
FIA measures the intracellular function of selected vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other essential micronutrients within the white blood cells.
B. Hair Mineral Analysis: A hair mineral analysis gives an accurate, long-range view of the minerals crucial to the function of every organ, gland and structural system in the body. Minerals are the source of life, energy production and health since we are literally made of dust. For instance, did you know that copper is necessary to formulate estrogen? That zinc is needed to produce and release the hormones that give one energy and endurance under stress? That heart attacks can usually be linked with a
major imbalance in the ratio of calcium and magnesium in the body? A hair analysis will take you on a tour inside your cells. There you will be able to see:

1. TOXIC METALS such as lead, iron, aluminum & copper. These contribute to many conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and depression. Depending on what metal it is and where you are being exposed, you may need to make dietary changes, have your water checked or get rid of the aluminum pots.
2. ORGAN & GLAND ACTIVITY may be calculated since certain minerals and their ratios correlate with the activity of your organs and glands.
3. ASSESSMENT OF THE BODY'S ENERGY SYSTEM, which is essential for health and well-being, is possible. Because specific minerals such as manganese and magnesium are required for energy production, determining the quantities of these minerals will provide information on individual energy output.

C. Hormone testing: Keeping hormones in proper balance is essential for optimal wellness. The Acu-Wellness Center uses a simple saliva sample to assess estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone levels. These hormones have a strong influence over a woman's overall well being:
Estrogen modulates the course of both the menstrual cycle and menopause, so imbalances are directly linked to symptoms such as weight gain, headaches, PMS, mood swings, and abdominal cramps. An estrogen deficiency can increase a woman's risk of bone-related conditions.

Progesterone, along with estrogen, plays a major role in shaping a normal menstrual cycle and imbalances have been linked to PMS. Adequate, but not excessive, levels of progesterone are also crucial for women during menopause.

Testerone is the most critical hormone for maintaing sex drive in both men and women. Testosterone also plays an important role in lean body mass, bone density, skin elasticity, and blood cell production. Low levels of testosterone are linked to fatigue and depression.

Salivary Hormone Health Screens Salivary hormone screens provide a direct link to hormone levels without the inconvenience and expense of blood collection. Saliva screening is a simple, noninvasive method to determine your hormone levels. A saliva sample will reveal the level of "free" or "unbound" hormones in the system - the actual active form of the hormone that brings about responses within the body.
